I'm glad that recently I was gifted by a family member her own vintage set of Churchill china from her dowry, otherwise I would be squirming with jealousy right now. I have loved them as long as I can remember, I will always cherish them.

The cabinets are filled with lovely glasses, ceramics and trinkets. How lovely it is when every single object you choose to bring inside your home is beautiful.

The February issue of Country Living UK has page after page of mesmerizingly beautiful narcissi.  I find myself flipping through the magazine over and over again. These interior photos seem to be styled while keeping in mind that freshness of spring blooms and the yet continuing need for warmth. The dominant color is the sweetest shade of green.

Look at this home, it's mostly gray but far from being dark and dreary. It's a well thought out space, with enough details to make it homey but not cluttered. Peaceful and spacious but not cold.

Above, half way up gray paint. I have been seeing that a lot lately and each time think it looks great.

Wishbones and sheepskins appeal to my primal senses, I will never grow tired of this look.

I prefer my books arranged by genre/publisher/author in that order and usually find color-coding books a bit superficial, but in this home it's good to see these blocks of colors.

With a quick search I have identified the beautiful bird prints on the wall. They are by illustrator Charley Harper and were commissioned by Ford Times in the 1950s.

Leap Year Bundle

Happy leap year! Could not miss having this rare day show up on my blog archives. February 29th is more special than any annual occasion! I can't believe in all these centuries nobody has deemed it a holiday.

The cross stitched cushion above is supposed to be from Poppel, but I couldn't locate it despite browsing all their stock. I'm posting it anyway because the color scheme gives me joy, and I love the portrait.

Artık yılınız kutlu olsun! Böyle nadir gelen bir günün blog arşivlerinde görünmemesi fikrine katlanamazdım. Şubat 29 yılda bir kez gelen diğer günlerden daha özel, bunca yüzyıl boyunca kimsenin bugünü bir bayram ilan etmemiş olmasına şaşıyorum.

Bu kanaviçe kırlentin Poppel'den olması gerekiyor ama arayıp taramama rağmen yerini tespit edemedim. Portrenin, renklerin güzelliği içime neşe doldurduğu için siz de görün istedim.

Indoors lemon tree? Enormous windows that allow the mild winter daylight in? Just looking at this photo is very relaxing, imagine actually being there.

Inky swallows on the white porcelain remind me of tattoos. The gold trim makes these cups look even more delicate.

This layout looks a lot like my own bedroom. Black roman shades (or at least black-out shades) are a must if you are nocturnal like me and can't stand the morning sunlight piercing your eyes in the sweetest part of your sleep. The black painting above the bed seems gorgeous, and so is the wall lamp.

What a cool entryway! The arrow pattern of the "Tapestry" wallpaper by Cavern, along with that basket, which makes me think a rattlesnake is nesting in it, really got me craving a few hours on the PS3 playing Red Dead Redemption.

Beautiful, creative railing made with rope. We have an under stairs pantry and now I'm just plain sad we never thought of having star shaped holes on the doors.

Urgan ile yapılmış yaratıcı bir trabzan. Bizde de merdiven altı kileri var, kapılarına böyle yıldız şeklinde delik açmak aklımıza hiç gelmedi diye üzüldüm şimdi.

This is actually a traditional Finnish ornament/mobile called himmeli, made of straw. Still, I think the sheriff would approve.

Bu himmeli yıldız Finlandiya'ya ait geleneksel bir yılbaşı süsü, samandan yapılıyor. Fin yıldızı da olsa, saz-saman, yıldız bugünkü temamıza uygun.

Closet envy. I love how there's a black board to pin inspiration photos. I know a lot of people put together moodboards for what they want to wear, so this is very practical.

Unlike every other woman, I have this strong dislike for polka dots. But these irregular dots are a whole other subject. They're like snow.

A dressing table is best when dressed-up with elegant accessories. I think it's best to keep the make-up products and other cosmetics in a nice little chest or box, and only leave the perfume bottles in sight. In the fabulous example above I love the three piece flea-market find mirror in front of the large glamorous one. But what else can we put on our vanity desk? I came across some wonderful decorations on Anthropologie's wedding store BHLDN.

Crinkled fans made with nice paper. You can make your own with putting just a tiny bit more effort into it than an ordinary paper fan.

Güzel kağıtlardan yapılmış yelpazeler. Normal bir kağıt yelpazeye göre azıcık daha fazla çaba göstererek kendiniz de yapabilirsiniz.

Of course, candles are a must. I always prefer tall ones vs. useless tealights, this candelabrum complements their elegance.

Mumsuz olmaz tabii. Ben uzun mumları her zaman işe yaramaz tealight'lardan daha hoş bulmuşumdur. Bu şamdan uzun mumların zerafetine uygun.

Have you ever wanted to live in a snow globe? Or wish you had been blessed with the third eye to let you see things beyond what is in your immediate sight? Now you sort of can do both! "A Room in the Glass Globe" is a doorknob designed by architect Hideyuki Nakayama for Union. It looks like your regular witch's globe with images from another world, but upon closer inspection you realize it is a view of the room behind the closed door. Which is just as magical. No peeping though!

Can you believe we have been trying to keep up with fashion without the aid of H&M? That's right, we haven't had H&M in Turkey - until now. Now I guess it's only a matter of time before the home collection arrives as well. I'm not too crazy about every item, but it's not too bad either. Vegetable illustrations give me a warm feeling and remind me of Beatrix Potter. See a preview of H&M Home spring 2011 at Home Shopping Spy, if you like.

H&M nihayet açıldı, gerçi VIP partisine davet ettiği zibilyon kişinin içinde ben yoktum ve mantıklı bir ulaşımı olan bir noktaya açılana kadar biri bana "atla hadi seni götüreyim" demediği sürece gitmeyi düşünmüyorum ama olsun.  Ev koleksiyonunun da gelişi yakındır. When I was little, I was terrifed of mushrooms. I would be stressed out whenever my family cooked mushrooms. I have a specific memory of me going for a walk at the forest with my family and my mother stepped on a mushroom. I had nightmares about how we were all going to be poisoned. I think this silly fear had something to do with the TV news being flooded by people dying of mushroom poisoning. I got over the fear and now not only can I eat them, but I am fascinated by them. I gathered a few products for you, inspired by the delightful world of mushrooms.

"The concept for this piece comes from a childhood memory of making mushroom spore prints, creating a graphic pattern that repeats the pattern of the mushroom gills after the spores fall from the mushroom. This was the perfect inspiration for spice shakers. The spice powder is contained in the vessel form and can be shaken out through slots in the gill structure, creating a linear pattern."

"Mushrooms Ate My Furniture, by designer Shinwei Rhoda Yen, is of garden furniture that is made with natural wood, embedded with mushrooms' spawn. After a time of exposure to the weather, mushrooms will grow out and live with the furniture for a few more years. As the nutritional material from the wood is eaten by the mushrooms, the furniture will start to break down, eventually dying while giving its life to the mushrooms."

I think "mortal" furniture is a good response to the throw-away culture. If we are going to get bored of it and eventually get rid of it, why not give the furniture a certain, natural lifetime?
