The February issue of Country Living UK has page after page of mesmerizingly beautiful narcissi.  I find myself flipping through the magazine over and over again. These interior photos seem to be styled while keeping in mind that freshness of spring blooms and the yet continuing need for warmth. The dominant color is the sweetest shade of green.

Some Place New, Some Things Old

This is the home of Stewart and Jane Devlin in Millbrook, Hudson Valley. They're Irish and English, respectively. This renovated 18th century house is so close to New York while providing the countryside lifestyle of their old country.

Stewart ve Jane Devlin'in Hudson Valley'de yer alan Millbrook'taki evlerindeyiz. Biri İrlandalı, diğeri İngiliz. 18. yüzyıldan kalma, yenilenmiş bu ev, New York'un yanıbaşında onlara anavatanlarının özlem duydukları kırsal yaşam tarzını sunuyor.

This is quite possibly the most realistic doll house I have ever seen. I wonder if it can be opened?

The family who lives here has great taste in old school toys. Case in point, everything in the child's room above and the rocking swan toy a couple of photos up.

For Real

This is the unbelivably beautiful home of some very fortunate people who get to live on heaven-on-earth, aka The Cotswolds. Search for that name on Google images if you dare, but don't blame me if you suddenly start feeling very unsatisfied about the place you live in. I honestly don't understand how anyone can be content living in a city, especially one with little greenery and lots of unsightly concrete. Why don't developers and architects put their ego and greed aside and build us nice little cottages instead of "innovatively" misshapen or "practical" boxlike buildings?

Dünyadaki cennette, yahut İngiltere'deki "The Cotswolds" bölgesinde yaşayan aşırı şanslı insanlara ait bir ev bu. Cesaretiniz varsa bu ismi Google imajlarda aratın, ancak aniden yaşadığınız yerle ilgili yoğun bir tatminsizlik hissetmeye başlarsanız beni suçlamayın. We always talk about interiors, but exteriors, and the space surrounding your home is just as an important part of where you live. The people who live here are quite lucky in that department.

Hep iç mekanlarda bahsediyoruz, oysa evlerimizin dış görünümleri ve çevresi de dekorasyon kadar yaşadığımız mekanı oluşturan etmenlerden biri. Bu evde yaşayan insanlar bu bakımdan oldukça şanslılar.

A cottage with high ceilings? That is the second best thing next to living in a castle with a private loch.

Yüksek tavanlı bir cottage mi? Sanırım bu kendi özel loch'una sahip bir şatoda yaşamaktan sonra olabilecek en harika şey.

Above you can see the hallway. The interior is mix of minimalist and rustic. I like it a lot, but if it were me I would go for the full-on hobbit style :)

You cannot have a home in the country without a proper library. The table was made by the owner's -Jesper Krogh's- father 50 years ago, it's still standing strong. My parents own beautiful furniture made by my grandfather, I wish I were old enough when he was around to teach me the craft, he had very skilled hands.

Doğru düzgün bir kütüphanesi olmayan kır evi olmaz. Sehpa ev sahibinin babası tarafından 50 yıl önce yapılmış, halen sapasağlam. Benim ailemin evinde de becerikli dedemin yaptığı bazı mobilyalar var, keşke o hayattayken bana bu zanaati öğretebileceği yaşta olsaymışım.

The view just goes on and on... The stone deck flooring is beautiful. It looks natural without being too bumpy.

Manzara ufuğa doğru uzayıp gidiyor... Verandanın taştan yer döşemeleri çok güzel, doğal görünümlü ancak engebeli değil.

Maybe if I put off renovating my apartment for a liiiittle bit longer, it will end up looking like this. With my water damaged hardwood floors, chipped walls, cold-air blowing windows, and pantry moth infestation I'm certainly bringing a breath of fresh air to the "rustic" style.

Most people don't now how to dress for the countryside and often wear things that are inappropriate and that turn out to be uncomfortable. I love this kind of country style, even though what I wear to the countryside usually consists of thermal leggings or sweatpants (yes, shame on me), cozy sweaters, a puffy vest, a knit headband and knit arm warmers and, of course, to survive in ankle deep mud, my trusty lace-up Hunters.

In the summer, a hooded light weight long-sleeved top is best to protect me from the sun and keep the bugs out of my hair and ears! Shorts and very loose bottoms are an absolute no-no, unless you want to have your very own pet tick on your leg.

Şortlar ve bol eşofmanlar ise kaçınılması gereken parçalar; tabi bacağınızda evcil bir kene yetiştirmek gibi bir niyetiniz yoksa. Köylüler şalvar giyiyor, paçaları dar diye börtü böcek giremiyor herhalde. Ama maalesef şalvar = donuna doldurmuş görüntüsü. Bu resimlerdeki kat kat giyim tarzı çok daha hoş bence.
