Baby blue is one of those wonderful colours that need to be used in moderation. A little piece here, a little accessory there, and it's enough. Painting the walls with it hardly ever results in a cozy environment. It needs to be enveloped in warm whites, sweet pinks or bright yellows. It needs the softness of wood or the warmth of wicker. Only then the true fresh, breezy, summery qualities of this colour arise. That's how I like it.

I have always been into Thonet chairs, enamel and vintage looking floor tiles. I also find simple woven fabric rugs such as the one here perfect for summer homes.

Yes to blue kitchen appliances. What I don't understand is why the majority of kitchen equipment isn't made in pastel colors. Every single person I know goes gaga over them. Why are our options limited to hard to access brands such as Kitchenaid, Smeg and AGA? Why?

The polka dot sheets with scalloped edges are so pretty. But it's really the blue cushions and pink stools that make the room! I want a star cushion, I guess it would be fairly easy to DIY.

For Real

This is the unbelivably beautiful home of some very fortunate people who get to live on heaven-on-earth, aka The Cotswolds. Search for that name on Google images if you dare, but don't blame me if you suddenly start feeling very unsatisfied about the place you live in. I honestly don't understand how anyone can be content living in a city, especially one with little greenery and lots of unsightly concrete. Why don't developers and architects put their ego and greed aside and build us nice little cottages instead of "innovatively" misshapen or "practical" boxlike buildings?

Dünyadaki cennette, yahut İngiltere'deki "The Cotswolds" bölgesinde yaşayan aşırı şanslı insanlara ait bir ev bu. Cesaretiniz varsa bu ismi Google imajlarda aratın, ancak aniden yaşadığınız yerle ilgili yoğun bir tatminsizlik hissetmeye başlarsanız beni suçlamayın. Erin'in Mutfağı

This is the kitchen from supermodel Erin O'Connor's 200 year old South London home. She owns a beautiful AGA cooker, a Smeg fridge, and reclaimed kitchen units that used to belong inside the laboratory of a Victorian girls school on her street. I quite like this cozy kitchen, aside from that lamp with tassels. The marble countertops look great and the cute wallpaper printed with teacups works here.

Süpermodel Erin O'Connor'ın Güney Londra'daki 200 yıllık evinin mutfağındayız. Siyah bir AGA fırını, Smeg buzdolabı ve oturduğu caddedeki eski bir Viktorya dönemi kız okulunun laboratuvarından kurtarılmış mutfak dolapları var. Yalnızca püsküllü lamba gözüme battı. Mermer tezgahlar çok güzel görünüyor, çay fincanı desenli duvarkağıdı da bu sıcak mutfağa gitmiş.

Okay, what is a gold parrot statuette doing on the stove? It's a mystery.

Coffee

I spy a Chemex on the shelf above the girl.

I am wearing my glasses and unlike the girl in the photo, am quite comfortably curled up under a blanket. I'm dying for a fresh cup of coffee but since it's way past midnight, I'll resort to looking at pictures of it.

Pour-over brewing. The filter cone in this photo is a Bonmac. The exact one with the Blue-Bottle logo is for sale here. They also sell the black Bonmac slim pot which confuses me because it actually appears to be a Tsuki-Usagi slim pot, made by Noda Horo. It's on my wishlist. You can search for a Japanese enamel coffee pot or check out Labour and Wait or Neest, or Kiosk. Now you are confused too.

A "well seasoned" Bialetti. Most people don't wash their Bialetti moka pots, because if you do, apparently your coffee tastes like aluminum. I'm concerned about boiling anything in aluminum so I'm on the lookout for a stainless steel version. Better safe than sorry.

Bialetti'nin verdiği tadın zaman geçtikçe güzelleştiğine ve aletin mümkün mertebe yıkanmaması gerektiğine inanılır. Aksi takdirde alüminyumu zedelemek ve metalik tat almak mümkünmüş. Chemex brewer. This timeless design by Peter Schlumbohm, a chemist, has many fans and it is on my very long wishlist of coffee brewers. It's on MoMA's permanent collection.

Aspiration

As a home owner, I don't think there is a single object from Muuto that I would not enjoy having in my apartment. As a designer I count Muuto among the brands that I aspire to work with one day. They now have a Pinterest account which I started following the instant I heard about it. That's where these photos are from. I love the grey color palette with the occasional yellows and greens.

A very simple and smart alteration that made a huge difference. It didn't lose it's character or end up kitsch, it's just brilliantly updated. I'm in love with this bed.

Do you think neon pink is going out of style? I think there will always be need for pink. Especially considering it looks amazing next to black & white and neutrals. Other neons; I don't care as much for.

Neon pembenin modası yavaş yavaş geçiyor mu sizce? Bence pembeye her daim yer var. Özellikle siyah-beyazın, nötr renklerin yanına nasıl yakıştığı düşünülürse. Diğer neon renklere ise bir süreliğine güle güle demeye itirazım olmaz.

This home looks a lot like my apartment in a bit more done state. Had it been ever finished, mine would be a tad more colorful with a healthy amount of tartan and animal illustrations. I'm posting this to remind myself to get framed artwork for my blank walls and to deal with the curtain situation already!

Bu ev tarzıyla benim dairemin daha tamamlanmış bir durumda olsa nasıl görünebileceğini düşündürdü bana. Bir gün biterse şayet benimki yeterli dozda ekose desenler ve hayvan ilüstrasyonları ile biraz daha renkli olurdu. Bu evi kendime duvarları boş bırakmamayı ve perde problemini çözmeyi hatırlatması için yayımlıyorum.

Black wall? Got it, love it. / Siyah duvar? Var, seviyorum.

Uh I can't stand paper lanterns though, I would photoshop it out of this photo if I could.

I'm not getting the kitchen redone anytime soon, but boy do I want to paint them! But probably won't, as I'm afraid I'll muck it up and end up with gooey patchy cupboards.

Not getting the bathroom redone either, but this is similar to the color scheme I have to work with. One thing that annoys me about bathrooms in Turkish houses is that they never have windows. Even if you are building a house from scratch, like my parents did, the builders cannot grasp the concept of a bathroom window and make them significantly smaller than what you have in mind.

Banyoda da planladığım bir değişiklik yok, kendim seçsem farklı yapardım ama banyomdaki renk skalası üstteki gibi olduğu için şikayetçi değilim. Türk evlerinde beni sinir eden bir şey banyoların daima penceresiz oluşu. Sıfırdan ev yapmaya kalksanız dahi, ailemin yaptığı gibi, pencereli banyo konseptini inşaatçıların kafaları almıyor ve güç bela hayalinizden bariz bir şekilde daha küçük pencerelere razı oluyorsunuz.

My favorite part of this house is the simple and cozy bedroom. This would make an excellent guest bedroom. I have a dark wood wardrobe in mine that I have to keep and a selection of warm grays and earth tones would tie it all nicely together.

Bu evin en beğendiğim kısmı yatak odası oldu. Hoş ve sade bir misafir yatak odası olurdu bu. Benimkinde orada tutmak durumunda olduğum koyu renk ahşap bir gardrop var, buradaki gibi sıcak griler ve kahverengiler o odaya sıcak ve tamamlanmış bir hava verecektir.
