Tagged, yay! Sometimes I get the feeling I am one of the rare bloggers who actually enjoy being tagged, maybe that's because this is my second ever tag. Thanks Romany of The 16 Diaries for including me in your game :) Here are the rules: The rules are posted at the beginning. At the end of the post, the player tags 6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blog and leave a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answer.

1) What was I doing 10 years ago?

10 years ago I was 13, in the beginning of my now shamefully remembered teenage angst years, getting a home-made permanent tattoo on my ankle by my 14 year old friend. Yeah, I still have the thing.

2) What are 5 things on my to-do list today?

• Come up with a few post ideas for my blog.


• Do some sketches and think for a design idea for a new desk.


• Work out


• Go see a movie


• I have been a bit sick for the last couple of days, so keep eating the advised food to keep myself together and do all of the above.

3) Snacks I enjoy:

• Big bowl of muesli, fibered cereal, dried fruit and fresh fruit all thrown together with milk.


• Cinnamon cookies & a cappuccino


• Ice cream


• An egg, red & black pepper, some feta cheese, salt and parsley mixed into a goo, put on slices of bread and roasted in the oven until crispy.

4) Places I've Lived

Istanbul (Turkey), PA USA.

5) Things I'd do if I were a billionaire.

• Set up my own design firm, find an awesome office and hold big parties for networking and finding clients.


• Live the life of a nomad; travel around the globe, living in the cities I like for a few months each.


• Buy a helicopter (I hate traffic and cars)


• Give my parents unlimited funding to decorate & advance their dream house the way they like.


• Buy my boyfriend the Ferrari he wants and have a long private track built for him to drive it on.


• Buy a town and build it in the style of Bree-town of the Lord of the Rings, clothes, ponies and lifestyle included. Call out for people who want to live like that, and provide them with homes and make a sustainable-living community of them. I think this would be both the realisation of my fantasy and a good deed in the same time!

Guess what... This is one of the top 5 most beautiful houses I have ever seen. Everyday more reasons come up for me to fall in love with Sweden and the impeccable taste of the Swedes. This house inspired me to combine a bit of Google Translator, some image searching and some guessing to try to understand what these beautiful pictures are about. Enjoy!

The small garden house has a ceiling covered with wistaria. I wish I could be there and smell it when it is in bloom! Hanni decorated the room with fresh roses from the garden. It has great view too, the window overlooks Öresund.

Hanni decorated this room as an enjoyable place for her grandchildren when they come to visit. Most of the toys are flea market finds. Is it me or are those cushions actually these from Ikea?

She achieved this by: hanging very large wooden framed mirrors on the the wall behind the counter. The cabinet/drawers are made of a rich looking wood, and the gold handles really add to that rich feeling. The chrome kettle, the statuesque faucet, and everything else on the counter look like chic accessories on a living room sideboard. The fact that there aren't any wall cabinets or shelves also help.

How was your weekend? Mine was great, me and the boyfriend decided to cross over to the European side for some shopping (sale at Topshop!), walk aimlessly and gleefully at Beyoglu, and had the best ice cream ever. I had anguria (watermelon) and banana. Yumm! Finally discovered a place that makes Milan-style ice cream, I had been searching for 2 years now. Later we had a nice dinner overlooking the avenue and went to see Hulk. Also, my cousin is back from her trip to the USA today, I had told her to "bring me stuff", so I'm going to her place after work to collect my loot. I don't exactly know what she got, but I heard things about Marimekko bikinis and thrifted 50$ Marc Jacobs shoes.

Haftasonunuz nasıldı? Benimki harikaydı, erkek arkadaşımla birlikte dolmuşa atlayıp karşıya geçmeye karar verdik. Topshop'ın indiriminden nasiplendikten sonra İstiklal Caddesinde amaçsızca neşe içinde gezindik, ve Türkiye'de yenilebilecek en harika dondurmayı yedik. İyi dondurmayı nerede duysam arar bulur peşine düşerim, Milano'da yediğim olağanüstü dondurmalardan beri hem anlata anlata herkesin kafasını şişirmiş, hem de Türkiye'de yediğim dondurmalardan tat alamaz olmuştum. Tünele doğru giderken Galatasaray Lisesi'ni geçtikten bir süre sonra (tünele daha yakın) sağda "Cremerie Milano" var, Milano stili dondurmaya nihayet kavuşmanın sevinciyle anguria (karpuzlu) ve muzlu olanlarından yedim, sonra doymayıp bir daha karpuzlu yedim. Lezzet muhteşemmmm! Nutellalı ve tiramisulu aromalarda da gözüm kaldı. Yarım saatte tadına vara vara yediğim dondurma hiç erimedi, bir damla bile akmadı kenarından, hep buz gibiydi. Ayrıca kuzenim de bugün Amerika seyahatinden döndü, "güzel bişey görürsen bana da al" demiştim, iş çıkışı ganimetlerimi toplamaya gidiyorum.

Well, dreaming on. As you can see, a crisp white beach house is what I'm longing for today. If you look at the pictures closely, you can see that this is a very easy-to-achieve look. White boards and a variety of blue-on-white prints are all you need, as less is definitely more with this look. Avoid over-accessorizing, I'd say. You could however throw in a few baskets (to create the effect of rope!), lanterns, some terracotta pots, enamel mugs, and white or cream ceramics. Large white candles would look too, even better if they're melted a little bit. If you want to add color, stay away from the usual red accent, and opt for grass green or aqua.

Today I have a lovely link for my French-speaking readers. There is a lovely French girl out there, traveling all around Turkey, and she is writing about it on her blog. A Canadian reader recently asked me about what to do in a short trip to Istanbul, and I'm sorry to say I didn't have the chance to answer her questions in time as I didn't have access to my personal e-mail. I really hope she speaks French and can read this before she leaves, because this blog, Du miel aux épices d'Istanbul, has a perfect guide to travel around Istanbul. Too bad I can't understand all her great experiences but the pictures on the blog are enough to prove this lovely blogger has seen every interesting corner of Istanbul that I haven't seen. Küçüksu Pavilion. A "tiny" house for short length getaways from the palace of the Ottoman royalty and burjuvazi. When I was little, we used to go there with my family a lot. There used to be a floating tea house on the sea, overlooking this pavilion. They had the tastiest grilled cheese sandvich ever, and wafer halva sellers used to walk around, yum.

Kanyon shopping center, shaped like a canyon. It's an open space with corridors and glass bridges. Very windy too.
