My, my! I love that Ikea is providing us with hacks at Livet Hemma. They must be reacting to the people who think homes full of Ikea furniture lack individuality. I love what they did with the affordable, plywood "Prant" boxes. They painted the insides with water based paint in beautiful pastel colors that make me think of cupcakes. Then they simply clipped them with black metal clips. I'm not sure if this setup would hold really heavy stuff, like books, but it would definitely make a great display for a couple of magazines, small plant pots and knick knacks.

Şuna da bakın! Ikea'nın Livet Hemma'da bize modifikasyon tüyoları vermesi çok hoşuma gidiyor. Ikea'dan döşenmiş evlerin özgünlük ve karakter bakımından zayıf olduğunu düşünenlerin fikirlerini değiştirmek için mi yapıyorlar acaba? Uygun fiyatlı kontrplak "Prant" kutuları kullanarak oluşturdukları bu modüler mobilyaya bayıldım. Kutuların içlerini pastel renklerde su bazlı boyalar ile boyamışlar. Sonra da kırtasiyecilerde satılan bildiğimiz siyah metal klipslerle kutuları birbirlerine tutturmuşlar. Bu düzeneğin kitap gibi ağır şeyler taşıyacağını düşünmüyorum ama az sayıda dergi, birkaç süs eşyası, minik saksı gibi şeyleri sergilemek için güzel olur.

There is a fun article at Dwell about the beautiful coat hooks seen in the picture above. They listed the prices, pros and cons of each. Though admired by masses, the cons render them unusable! Oh well, who wants to cover up these overpriced beauties with a stupid old coat anyway. I'll take the Muuto Dots, thank you.

Dwell dergisinde yukardaki resimde görebileceğiniz birbirinden güzel askılarla ilgili eğlenceli bir yazı var. Hepsinin fiyatlarını, avantajlarını ve dezavantajlarını sıralamışlar. Tasarımseverler tarafından çok sevilseler de sözkonusu dezavantajlar bu aşırı pahalı askıları neredeyse tamamen işlevsiz kılıyor! Kimisi yeterince çıkıntı yapmıyor, kimisi kıyafette iz yapıyor, kimisi soyuluyor. Zaten kim bu güzellikleri üzerlerine bir palto asarak gizlemek ister ki? Ben Muuto Dot'ları alayım, çok mersi.

Beautiful and timeless, no? A bit expensive too. It's available for $882 at Danish Design Store, and for 750 Euros at Finnish Design Shop. Fear not, design lovers on a budget. Our saviour, Ikea, has come up with a suspiciously similar floor lamp named Stockholm:

Güzel ve zamanın ötesinde değil mi? Azıcık da tuzlu. Danish Design Store'da 882 Dolar, Finnish Design Shop'ta 750 Euro. Korkmayın bütçesi kısıtlı tasarımseverler. Kurtarıcımız Ikea Jacobsen'inkine şüpheli derecede benzeyen "Stockholm" isimli yeni bir yer lambası ile karşımızda:

They are not identical but the style and proportions reminded me of AJ at the first instant I saw it. During the renovation I removed the pendant light in my living room and covered the hole, so Ikea's new floor lamp in white is a good candidate for me. Tıpatıp aynı değiller ama stil ve oranları bu lambayı gördüğüm saniyede bana AJ'i anımsattı. Tadilat sırasında salondaki sarkıt lambayı söktürdüm ve evdeki diğer kullanılmayan lamba delikleriyle birlikte onu da bir güzel kapattım. These colorful photos styled by Lo Bjurulf ought to make up for your lost hour this weekend and cheer you up! Spring forward day is usually a pain but I will appreciate an extra hour of daylight. Did you know Turkey postponed moving the clock for a day because of a national exam date that was set for today months ago? They want the students to get a good nights sleep. Any system that has something to do with computers will go crazy, not to mention anyone involved in international trade. Thankfully I'll be home, merely observing digital doomsday.

Yesterday our painter finished painting the doors white. They were a warm beige before, I didn't think they were ugly by any means but after painting the walls white the color just didn't go with the cool off white and appeared to have a yellow tint, which I didn't like. See the before picture at the end of this post. I'm very happy with the result, you can see it in the picture above. The type of paint that needs to be used for these type of doors smells very very bad but it's necessary to use it as it gives color but lets the texture of the doors show. It was well worth the agony, they are very beautiful up close! I got that alphabet print from Ikea for half price. I wouldn't buy art from Ikea but this one I liked a lot. Sorry about the dust on the floors, we still have some construction going on and with the shining sun the dust situation is just out of control. By the way, these are the first ever pictures of my own home published on this blog, yay!

Dün kapıların beyaza boyanması bitti. Önceden sıcak bej tonlarındaydılar. Çirkin bir renk değildi ama duvarlar soğuk beyaza boyandıktan sonra renkler uyuşmadı, kapılar sarı sarı sırıttı. Eski rengini aşağıdaki resimde görebilirsiniz. Bu tip amerikan kapılar bir kat astar üzerine selülozik boya ile boyanabiliyormuş, bu boya sayesinde kapılardaki doku hiç kaybolmuyor. Boya felaket kokuyor ama çekilen çileye değdi, yakından çok güzeller, süt gibi oldular. Sonuçtan gerçekten çok memnunum, üstteki resimde son halini görebilirsiniz. Alfabe baskılı çerçeveyi Ikea'nın fırsat köşesinde yarı fiyata buldum, normalde duvara asmalık resim tarzı şeyleri kitlesel üretim yapan yerlerden almamayı tercih ederim ama bunu çok sevdim. Yerlerdeki toz için kusuruma bakmayın, evde halen inşaat işleri devam ediyor, güneş de böyle vurunca toz durumu kontrolden çıktı. Bu arada bu blogda kendi evime ait resim ilk defa yayınlamış oluyorum, tebrikler bana!

Home Reno round 2 is going on in my home, and spring has failed to arrive. That means we are getting toxic fumes while our previously beige doors are being painted white, and we can't open a window without freezing. Looking at so many pretty pictures on blogs makes you think it's easy doesn't it? But even though I have a long way to go before it's "complete", I'm already liking the feeling of being home.

I love Muuto's "Rest" sofa by Anderssen & Voll. It doesn't look stiff like many other modern looking sofas. My sofa is very different but the picture has the exact look I'm aiming for:  basic and comfy. (Let's hope I achieve it!)

Tadilat round 2 evimde devam ededursun, bahar bir türlü gelemedi. Bu da kapılar bej'den beyaza boyanırken çıkan toksik kokulardan kurtulmak için cam açamadığımız anlamına geliyor. Bloglarda güzel resimlere bakmak insanı bu işin çok da zor olmadığı yanılgısına düşürüyor. Herşeyin "tamam" olmasına daha uzun bir yolum var ama şimdiden evde olmak bana mutluluk verir oldu.

Yukardaki resimde görülen Muuto'nun "Rest" kanepesini beğeniyorum, çoğu modern kanepenin aksine pofidik görünüyor. Benim kendi kanepem çok farklı ama resim hedeflediğim görünümü iyi yansıtıyor: sade ve rahat.

I came across these pictures above and below at two different places. Aren't the layouts nearly identical? It almost looks like it's one of those "one room, two looks" kind of features. Even the sofas made from pallets with wheels are similar. I like the large clock and animal pillows above, the wall lamp and the extended pallet used for stacking magazines below.

Üstteki ve alttaki resimlere iki farklı yerde rastladım. Yerleşimleri neredeyse aynı değil mi? "Bir oda, iki görünüm" tarzı bir yazı için çekilmişler adeta. Tekerlekli paletten yapılma divanlar bile aynı. Üstte büyük saat ve hayvanlı yastıkları, altta duvar lambası ve paletin dergi koymak için uzun bırakılmasını sevdim.
